He became involved in his profession after completing undergraduate and graduate studies in chemistry, which became a natural extension into the field of medicine where he had always had a strong interest. His attraction to orthopaedic surgery evolved through experiences and interest in the skeletal systems presented early in life and in training.

Dr. Zehr served as the head of orthopaedic oncology from 1996 to 1998 at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Thereafter, he was chosen to lead the Cleveland Clinic in Naples where he distinguished himself by rising to the level of executive director, chief of staff and head of orthopaedic surgery. After 20 years in an academic surgical practice and at the height of his career, Dr. Zehr is enjoying his solo orthopaedic surgical practice in Naples, Florida. His patients come from national and international origins to seek out his surgical expertise.
