Extended Bio Profile:
Ms. Durbin believes life offers many challenges and we have the choice to let them be problems or opportunities. Being a wife and mother of four boys has been her joy. When she became single again after 31 years of marriage, she had many choices: resent vs. release; play the blame game vs. take responsibility for herself and move on; or to ask "why me?" vs. "why not me?" During this time, her faith in God has flourished; her joy is deep and her contentment real. She firmly believes that when you seemingly lose everything and God is all you have left, you then realize God is all you need. He gives direction, and peace of heart and mind in the midst of turmoil. This loss opened doors that she would never have chosen, but that have been incredibly rewarding. Out of life's experience and her own need, she started a divorce recovery support group on Wednesday evenings at our church. That was 18 years ago and she is still leading it. Ms. Durbin feels that it is important to have a safe and secure place to share, listen, learn, grow and move on to new heights. We do have control over our actions, reactions and attitudes. This huge detour in our lives can be a stumbling block or a stepping-stone. Her passion is to offer encouragement and hope because people matter. "One" is a whole number and she is having the time of my life making a difference out of that one "whole" number.
