Expanded Biography:
Ms. Perry is the daughter of sharecroppers. She is the eldest girl of nine children. Married and widowed before leaving Edgefield in the early 1950's, she relocated to New York with her small children to seek a better life. Upon her arrival she found work immediately as a housekeeper. Desiring more for herself and children she enrolled in DeFran's Beauty School in Jamaica where she received an education in cosmetology. This decision was the beginning of her professional cosmetology career which led to her working in the industry for several decades and her ownership of Holliswood Beauty Center which she still operates today.
