Career Achievements:
Mr. Voigt supervised a team of engineers in the writing of About 25 equipment operator manuals. In 1963 he presented an IEEE conference paper on a computerized method of determining the annealing of electrical conductors. Over time, this method was revised and updated. It was used to assign thermal ratings to open conductors. He also supervised the conversion of several plant records from a manual to a computerized file system and the first system in the company used to calculate crew performance for hundreds of small jobs. Conversions were made with minimal disruption of the clerical work flow although considerable coordination was needed with several departments who used each of the file systems. The outage and interruption file, and the street light detail file were among the systems converted. He represented the company on the eastern area coordination and reliability committee with about 5 other large electric companies for several years. They published a paper to estimate the effects of severe loading on transmission conductors. He was the company representative from 1978 to 1995 to the PA One Call Organization, serving on their Board of Directors and Committees at various times in that period. This organization is dedicated to reduction of construction damage to all utilities by a continuous exchange of information with contractors, public works and utilities.
