She attributes her personal success to never giving up, and never being afraid to take action. Going to college as a Civil Engineering student, there were more men than woman students, and as a woman, she had to prove herself even more. She was also blessed in that her parents supported and encouraged her to pursue her dreams.
How Did They Get Involved In Profession:
In college, she originally studied Civil Engineering Construction, but the construction field had scheduling conflicts, so she pursued General Civil Engineering. She was directed into roadway design, and after discovering her affinity with both computers and math, she began working for the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
