She was honored by The Links social organization for her community involvement, which included working with Mrs. Coretta Scott King to establish the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. national holiday. Her published theses include 'An Examination of Six Indices of True Integration of the Morris School District' and 'The Black Family and Its Effect on the Self-Esteem of the Black Male Adolescent.' She is the proud grandmother of Damian, William, Douglas, Marcus and Alicia.
