Extended Bio Profile:
I was a Chicago Police Officer for over twenty five years, achieving the rank of Sergeant. I worked in many different areas of law enforcement throughout my career. Some of those areas were, narcotics, gangs, youth, organized crime, school unit, internal affairs, detail unit (covered all major sporting events , including the World Cup), I later had the opportunity to be a supervisor in some of these areas, such as narcotics, organized crime, school unit, detail unit, and court section. The majority of the positions I supervised, was a first for a female sergeant. I retired from the Chicago Police Department, and took this position because I felt it would be challenging and rewarding. The position I hold today is a first for the school district. There has been security in each school, but my position is to oversee the entire district, and bring new ideas to the forfront. My sister was an educator for many years, and I was aware of the vulnerability of teachers and schools and the need to protect themprotecting them. My sister told me about this opportunity at the school district, and the type of experience they were looking for in a person. I applied along with others, and was offered the job. This is still new and uncharted territory, but I am enjoying the challenge.
