What do you feel separates you from the rest of the professionals in your industry?:
I once experienced a life-threatening event. I learned first-hand that many "little" things considered insignificant by the medical professionals and not addressed in text books do add up to the point that the final outcome can be greatly different than what would normally be expected. I try to teach these points to every C.N.A. class.
What has been the most outstanding thing you have done thus far in your career?:
I raised five children while working full time on the 11pm to 7am shift as a registered nurse and made time to attend a nearby university to earn a degree. All five children are upstanding adults. They are an engineer, office manager, police dispatcher, EMT, volunteer fireman, department head and a mother raising her five children from her wheelchair. I feel I am a mother, R.N. and a teacher. That is my career achievement.
Expanded Biography:
Nothing is ever good enough. If it is worth doing, it's worth doing well.

I was listed dead on arrival from an auto accident as a teenager. Then, I was told to enter a long-term care facility as I would never walk again as they wanted to amputate one leg. I was also told that I would lose the use of my left arm and be unable to speak clearly again. I decided that I needed to enter the medical profession and become a registered nurse. I refused the operation and made a complete recovery. A never give up attitude is something I encourage the patients and C.N.A. students to utilize.
