Ms. McCollum's ability to see the big picture as well as the smallest detail, her willingness to see events through the eyes of everyone and her desire to do an outstanding job while being as invisible as possible to the guest and participants are what separates her from her peers.

Expanded Biography:
Ms. McCollum has mastered the art of multi-tasking, working with tight budgets and meeting deadlines as a retired Social Studies teacher. Her teaching experience as well as her collaborative endeavors with colleagues have honed her ability to work well with many people in a variety of settings.

As an event planner and coordinator, Ms. McCollum continues to serve the community. She is the creator of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Breakfast Celebration. She developed, nurtured and managed the event from an idea into reality against incredible odds and overwhelming obstacles. This event, held in Cleveland, Ohio, provides an annual and honorable observance of the life and work of Dr. King and highlights the creativity of the youth of the Greater Cleveland area and Northeast Ohio. The “Happy Birthday Dr. King!”© Contest gives students an opportunity to learn about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. while showcasing their creativity.

Ms. McCollum has two quotes that she lives by: "Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your father who is in heaven" and "Do things decently and in order." In addition, she had a life changing event in 1984 when she visited the State of Israel as a Fulbright Scholar.
Highlight of career?:
The most gratifying aspect of her career is seeing a bride and groom happy, healthy and enjoying their wedding and marriage.
