Expanded Biography:
Ms. Wade is proud to mention that each career opportunity has helped equip her to be the therapist that she is today. After obtaining a degree in Marriage and Family Therapy with an emphasis in play therapy, she attained her first position after completing graduate school as resident therapist at Hendrick Home for Children. After a year and a half, she accepted a position as therapist and program coordinator with the Colorado River Indian Tribes and moved to Parker, Arizona in the middle of the desert. She describes her experience as personally, professionally and culturally wonderful. She returned to Texas after accepting a position with Willowbrook Psychiatric Hospital, and became the treatment program coordinator for the Christian Family Unit. Her experience allowed her the opportunity to gain inpatient psychiatric skills as well as multifamily group experience, under the direction of psychiatrist, Dr. Jay Seastrunk. She later joined Dr. Jay and his practice to gain experience in private practice at the Adolescent and Family Care Counseling Center. She continued to work with children in play therapy as well as work with individuals and couples. It was many of Dr. Jay's quotes that have resonated throughout her career. He would often utilize the following mottos: “He who steers gets there quicker than he who drifts” and “he who walks down the middle of the road gets hit on both sides.” Ms. Wade had the opportunity to work in two other group practices, the Bent Tree Counseling Center and LifeWorks Counseling Center, and perform contract work for the Dallas Inter-Tribal Center before opening her private practice, ACTSolutions, in 1999. Her desire to become a sex therapist stemmed from the experiences she encountered throughout her career, including her discovery that so few individuals and couples have a healthy concept of sexuality, and that affairs and pornographic and sexual addictions destroy many marriages. Her current passion has been writing and teaching "Back to the BASEX: Beyond the Birds and the Bees" a program for educating and equipping parents to teach healthy sexuality to their children and teens. One of the most incredible career experiences she has had is taking seven different groups of women to hike the Grand Canyon as a therapeutic modality. She has contributed to the life-changing progression in many of the women who have participated in the therapy. Her greatest joy in life is seeing and experiencing Christ working in the hearts and lives of others to bring about healing and life change. As it is stated in Ephesians 3:20: "He is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us.”
