She attributes her success to being goal-oriented, wanting to excel, loving competition, trying to be the very best she can be, and enjoying her talent in art.
Why did you become involved in your profession or industry?:
She became involved in her profession because, when she was a little girl, she looked at advertisements in the newspaper and decided that was what she wanted to do. Her mother told her that fine artists don't make a lot of money, so she got it into her head that she wanted to be in advertising.
Extended Bio Profile:
Ms. Boulton-McCoy started working in advertising in 1968. After she went to college, married and divorced six years later, she moved to San Diego in 1978. In 1985, she started her own business doing graphics work. After the recession, she got into packaging as a consultant, which she continued to do until retirement a few years ago. Today, she does design work for charities, art guilds and churches and still creates prototypes for Costco and corporate signage for other companies. She takes a lot of trips, photographs extensively and paints in her studio.

In five years, Ms. Boulton-McCoy would like to stay in the design field, to keep in the 21st century technologically. She feels that there is better painting than ever today and wants to still do design work. She would like to eventually sell her art from galleries.
